Prefer

යමක් කිරීමට හෝ යමකට කැමති බව ප්‍රකාශ කිරීමට යොදා ගනී. Prefer සමඟ to යෙදෙන අතර Prefer to + verb සමඟ rather than යෙදේ

I prefer curd to ice cream  - මා අයිස් ක්‍රීම් වලට වඩා මුදවපු කිරි වලට කැමතිය
I prefer walking to travelling by bus
I prefer to stay at home rather than go on a trip  - චාරිකාවක් යනවට වඩා ගෙදර නැවතීමට මා වඩා කැමතිය
I prefer to listen to radio rather than watch T.V

Would rather

කැමැත්ත ප්‍රකාශ කිරීමට යොදා ගනී

I would rather read than watch T.V  - රූපවාහිනිය බලනවාට වඩා කියවන්නට මා කැමතිය
He would rather drink tea than coffee
I would rather go for a swim than watch T.V
I would rather go to a hotel than eat at home

පහත සඳහන් වාක්‍ය අතීත කාල නොවේ. ඒවායේ තේරුම වර්ථමාන හෝ අනාගත වේ

I would rather you came with him  - ඔහු සමඟ එනවාට මා කැමතිය
I would rather it was a large house
Would you rather she did not know the news?

Used to

පුරුදු වී සිටියා යන තේරුම පවතී

I used to play cricket when I was in school  - මා පාසලේ සිටියදී ක්‍රිකට් ක්‍රීඩා කරන්නට පුරුදුවී සිටියෙමි
I used to walk to the office everyday
They used to live in London

I am used to

මම පුරුදුවී සිටිමි යන තේරුම පවතී

I am used to driving in Colombo  - කොළඹ වාහන පැදවීමට මම පුරුදුවී සිටිමි
She is used to getting up early
My friend is used to live alone
People in Sri Lanka are not used in driving on the right

Get used to

යමකට පුරුදුවන බව කීමට යොදා ගනී

They have to get used to work at night  - රාත්‍රියේ වැඩ කිරීමට පුරුදු වීමට ඔවුන්ට සිදු වී තිබේ
My dog has got to used to sleep on the floor
You can get used to this food
They have got used to this hot climate
